There are a number of camping options in the Lakeland area of Minocqua, Woodruff and Arbor Vitae. From fully equipped camping resorts to rustic camp sites in the middle of one of the area’s pristine forests, you’ll find exactly the camping experience you’re hoping for.
Backpack your way into the heart of the north woods and pitch a tent under the stars, or pull your car up to your campsite in one of the area’s campgrounds and have access to showers, restrooms, sundries and laundry facilities. Whether you want to sleep outside or bring your own RV, there are hundreds of great campsites where you’ll be comfortable and fully immersed in the north woods. There are also a number of outfitters in the area who will help you make sure you have everything you need for your outdoor adventures.
Verna Lake and Timber Bay Resorts both offer cabins, as do Old Stoney’s Resort, Mill Point Resort, and many others.
Indian Shores Camping Resort offers wooded camping and RV sites, Shoreline Inn Restaurant, planned activities, contemporary cottages, RV sales, a pool, and beach areas all on Lake Tomahawk which is over 3,000 acres. Indian Shores also has a marina, gift shop, game room, groceries, and laundry facilities. Indian Shores Camping Resort is pet-friendly and is conveniently located 5 miles south of Woodruff on Hwy 47.
Other campground facilities include Patricia Lake Campground near downtown Minocqua, Cedar Falls Campground, and Broken Bow and Arbor Vitae Campgrounds.
If you’re looking for a more rustic camping experience, the Northern Highland - American Legion State Forest provides unlimited opportunities for hiking, snowmobiling, biking, fishing, boating, swimming, canoeing, cross-country skiing, camping, picnicking and hunting – all with unbelievable scenery. Northern Highland-American Legion State Forest (NHAL) is the largest of Wisconsin’s state forests with nearly 223,000 acres. Camping facilities range from very basic backcountry sites to more easily accessed front country sites.
