Featured Story

Interact with science at the Northwoods Children's Museum and Discovery Store

Don’t miss the Northwoods Children's Museum and Discovery Store. This museum is a hands-on interactive play museum that has 22 exhibits including a giant bubble station, medical center, dress-up area, camping exhibit, fishing pond and river system, and art center. Kids love this museum and it’s open year-round.

The mission of the Northwoods Children's Museum is to enrich lives, support families, and encourage a love of learning through interactive play. Your admission ticket is good all day, so if you play for an hour or two and want to take a break for lunch or some shopping, you can leave and then return for more fun.

Exhibits include a Badger Mine, a Bubble Station, a Camping Exhibit, Construction Junction, a Cranberry Bog, a Fire Tower a Kid's Outdoor Garden and many more. Special facilitated craft workshops are held during the school year on Saturday afternoons.

The museum offers two special programs each month, Fun with Fathers and Special Needs Night. Fun with Fathers is a free program that is open to all fathers and other father-figures and their children. The evening includes a meal, planned activity and time to play in the museum. It also offers a chance for fathers to network and share ideas and common concerns

Special Needs Night is also a free program that is open to all children with special needs and their parents or caregivers. Held in conjunction with Northland Pines High School, the program is facilitated by teachers and professionals in the special education field. Sessions include a meal, informational program or activity, and time to play and explore in the museum.

The Northwoods Children's Museum is the perfect place to hold birthday parties. Two levels of parties are available, and the price is discounted for members. Children and families can play in the museum, then gather in the Celebration Room for cake and ice cream and gifts.

The Discovery Store offers many of the toys, games and activities found in the museum. Over 1,000 items related to the mission of supporting families and making learning fun are available through the store. From toddler toys through pre-teen novelty items and all ages in-between, the toys have been hand-picked by the museum’s staff to guarantee learning and fun.

The museum and store are both open year-round.
